The Role
Great summer in the Sales & Trading summer internship at Citi. Met some very inspirational people, learned A LOT, and generally enjoyed the atmosphere and workplace very much,
As an intern, I found that I was treated with respect and professionalism, while also finding that everyone was very interested in finding out more about me, my skills, and what I enjoy.
There was constant support and guidance available from managers within my own team, other teams, the graduate committee, and HR.
Days varied, but generally there was a very good balance of work to be done for the team and time to study up on relevant material - as well as networking and socializing opportunities.
This varied a lot between teams, as the work you receive depends on what work needs doing - but generally I was made to feel like a valued team member, and given responsibility where appropriate.
Regardless of the outcome of the internship, this will be a very valuable experience in terms of lessons learned in people skills, networking skills, confidence, and financial awareness.
The Company
The atmosphere on the trading floor was very social, but of course also very busy - it's about knowing when to put your head down and zone out from the noise to get work done. But desks are all close to one another and the support within and between teams was really great.
Very well organised - all timetables and schedules were followed to the letter, and provided beforehand; a mentoring and buddy system was set up way before the internship; members of the graduate committee always made themselves available; and HR was very easy to contact for any practical questions.
I felt that Citi truly invests in and values their graduate classes, with extensive opportunities for personal training and development, seminars, clubs, mentoring, and learning.

Financial Bonus
Following the summer internship, I have been offered a place in the graduate program - which I have accepted!
The Culture
Very tightly knit intern class with possibility of great social scene, friendship, and collaborations.
Canary Wharf is an expensive area of London, so inevitably socialising around there was not cheap - but great scene!
A lot of choice in terms of restaurants and bars.
The internship was quite brief so not many opportunities came up - but Citi made sure to organise networking events, evening seminars, a sports day out, and opportunities to meet members of the different clubs available in the company.
