The Role
Great company, and a great working environment. They are really focused on giving students the best placement they can. Many opportunities are available in many aspects of the business.
Very much an equal and valued part of the team. I was given real responsibility of important projects.
Help and guidance was always readily available. I never felt as alone when I had issues to deal with. Everyone was more than happy to offer help and support.
I was kept busy, but sometimes I was much busier than others and had to recruit others to assist in my tasks.
By the end of the placement I was given projects to manage by myself which was an excellent experience. I was allowed to build up my expertise and confidence throughout the year before taking on full responsibility of projects.
The placement experience was invaluable. The practical real world experience will definitely help me in my final year. The networking experience and opportunities, technical knowledge gained and knowledge of business will undoubtedly serve me well in my future career.
The Company
Always a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. A good productive working environment.
It was well set up. They take on many students each year and are used to providing a good placement experience. GSK is a large enough company to provide many opportunities in different parts of the business, depending on where the interests of the stundents lie.
We had many training opportunities and experiences throughout the year, as much if not more than the full-time staff.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The prospect of future employment with GSK would definitely appeal to me.
The Culture
GSK employ hundreds of placement students every year and have a department dedicated to looking after placement students. They set up a facebook group for us to network and organise social events. They also had a society called IP Unite which organised events and training opportunities for the students.
Being in London the cost of living is relatively high, but the salary for the placement is higher than average to compensate for this.
They're based in London!
Again, they're based in London.
