    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my internship at EY in Tax FSO. I was placed in a great team, achieved all my goals, had a tangible impact on important client work and met a great group of employees and interns.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very welcome in my team from the first day. They were keen to get me involved in socials, to introduce me to everyone around and to get me involved in the best work possible. Most importantly I barely had to do any scanning in the 6 weeks. Only a little.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given fantastic guidance and support throughout. The HR team were very approachable in the induction and I was sat next to my counselor, manager and buddy the rest of the time so I always had help around. I was taught brilliantly and never felt like I was asking stupid questions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work was sometimes inconsistent, as expected. As an intern you are responsible for finding work to do yourself by talking to people, and most of the time I was very busy. There were, however, days where I felt a little short of stuff to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was surprised with how much freedom and responsibility I was given from the start. I was involved in a great deal of important client work, and I was never monitored or specifically micro-managed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a third year history student, knowledge of Tax and the financial world isn't that important but the work ethic I developed certainly helps!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great fun, friendly, relaxed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Quite a loosely structured internship, but I see that as a strength. It was entirely what you made of it and gave a lot of flexibility.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of time, and effort was spent in training me.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They were very clear about the fact that if you perform to the expected level, which almost all interns do, you'll get the job. EY are expanding and it seems they want to recruit massively!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Fantastic social scene. We met up for lunch almost every day and drinks every week. I'm still in touch with the interns and got very close to a number of them

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is expensive...but you are well paid.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London...

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities, but unfortunately not much time on my own part.
