About You
It was a fantastic experience. The most enjoyable part of the insight was the dinner networking event on the first night. It was a genunine pleasure talking to the people from EY, all of whom were very happy to answer any questions you had about the daily working (and social) life at the firm.
I felt valued. It was not a large group of people at the Discover EY programe which made it feel more special that we were even there in the first place. They treated us as adults and were never patronising in their tone.
It was a very informative program. Presentations were given about Audit and Tax on the first day and the best piece of guidance given was the panel discussion where we as a group asked three first year trainees what life is like working at EY.
Participating in this program will give you a clearer indication on whether you would enjoy life working at a professional service firm.
The Company
There was never any 'dull' time. Across the two days the schedule was packed with presentations, skill sessions and networking meals.
Excellent. I highly recommend applying to the programme! It was not cut throat and mirrored the firm in how everyone spoken to was enthusiastic about working there.
They compensated travel up to £150.00. Gave us each two nights accomodation in a hotel that was within walking distance to their HQ. They also gave us a free steak dinner. This is in addition to all the time spent creating the program. It was extremely well run I believe the firm invested a lot in us.
A lot. During the presentations they even explained the timeline between joining the firm and becoming a Partner.
The company culture is one where smart people work hard without being cut throat.
Very valuable. It will help you decide whether you want to work in the industry or not.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses.
Yes we had multiple representatives from Audit and Tax there to talk with us.
They were brilliant.
Yes. EY have sport teams that compete against the teams of other firms.
Yes definitely and have been doing so to the 20 first year students that I currently mentor.
