The Role
Working at EY was generally an enjoyable experience, and I benefited a great deal working with some very talented teams and exposure to different clients from the first week.
Building a rapport with colleagues was rarely difficult because of the nature of the work, which requires effective teamwork.
EY has a good support network, where each individual is assigned a 'buddy', who is there to offer any support particularly during the first couple of months when you are adjusting to a new working environment.
The workload generally varied on the client and the size of the team relative to the amount of required. A typical week would probably consist of 9 till 6, with additional hours between Jan-Mar.
Plenty of responsibility is given from the first week, including communicating with the client to request data or additional information, as well as communicating any significant issues to the audit manager.
The time management skills will definitely help in managing the workload of the final year, and the excel skills will become useful for certain task as well
The Company
The atmosphere at the client varies from each individual client as well as the stage of the audit. When the audit is going well and on time, the team is generally in good spirits.
The placement was organised well. Any necessary issues were communicated clearly in advance, and the admin for exams and study leave was taken care of by the support team
A lot of resources are allocated towards education, including the professional exams which are paid for by the firm, and the internal training sessions.

I was offered a permanent position shortly after my placement year ended.
The Culture
The department held socials on a bi-monthly basis, and team socials were held shortly after the completion of the audit.
The rent in London was relatively expensive.
London has a range of bars and restaurants to visit.
The firm organised a couple of CSR days during the first week, and allowed further time off for charity work if we wished to do so.
