The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working at Faurecia as the UK Human Resources Placement Student. I got to work with a supportive and friendly network of people, as well as, being given interesting and varied projects which included a lot of personal responsibility.
I felt highly valued by my colleagues, i was trusted with confidential documents, given individual projects which i solely lead to success and i was seen as/felt like a genuine member of the UK Human Resources team.
I was given constant support from my Line Manager, as well as, the encouragement to be independent and accountable for my own work when my manager was not in the office.
My day to day activities could vary depending on the projects i was working on. On a typical day i would have tasks that i needed to ensure were completed by the end of the working day, this could make certain days more busier than others.
At Faurecia one specific thing i really appreciated was being given real live projects with real responsibility. I got involved with many different tasks, some even involving executive members of the company. I took many projects from an idea into a reality (and a success!), from this i personally feel a great sense of achievement.
I have gained invaluable knowledge and real life experience of working in a thriving fast paced working environment. Throughout my placement i was constantly learning and adapting and i have gained and enhanced many skill set which i am very thankful for. My new and enhanced skills are helping me greatly in my final year at University and i have no doubt will aid me in my career.
The Company
I worked in a friendly office, everyone works really hard but are willing to help you if you ask.
This was the first year Faurecia took on a 'UK Human Resources Placement Student' so my year was a learning curve for the next and so on. The general organisation of my placement was well focused and varied. When i first started i was given an overview of what my projects were going to be, which i really appreciated as it eased me into the job role.
I was encouraged my Line Manager to take up any external workshops which i felt would aid my placement role. If training and development was needed Faurecia were willing to invest.

If you conduct a successful placement with Faurecia you have access to an International Graduate Scheme in a variety of roles. It is a great opportunity if you are thinking about working internationally for a Global company in the future.
The Culture
There were placement students based across various locations in the UK. When we first started we had a company organised two day induction with all placement students. It was a great way to meet everyone and get to know faces who were in the same position as you. Socially there were no other events organised outside of work, however, with my role i travelled to the other plant locations in the UK frequently, helping me build a rapport with students based at other locations. Also, there were a few additional company organised events throughout my placement in which i got to see my fellow placement colleagues.
I worked at the Washington site, based in the North East of England. I lived at home, however, a fellow placement student lived in the Washington area and her house was not too expensive. There is also the option of living in Newcastle or Sunderland, which are both commutable to Washington.
Washington is very close to the city of Newcastle which has a great night life. A large variety of bars, nightclubs, pubs and restaurants.
At the Washington site there was not a lot of opportunities for activities outside of work, however, the other sites have outside social clubs such as, the Faurecia football team who meet once a week i believe.
