The Role
Excellent work conditions and training by different teams from the company. A great way to find out about the power market and its connections with other energy markets. Working closely with my boss and his team. Plus everyone was keen to answer all my questions.
I was selected on my mathematical background and my tasks were to use them. While the frame was given, I was free to operate how I liked and adventure on whatever path I felt was interesting. Always had a support from the team to do so, and getting to explain and debate my decisions helped me figure out if it was a good idea or not.
I was free to chose the methodology to reach my results and had regular discussions to debate whether or not my decisions were relevant or not. Ideal work conditions where I was independent, had support and sufficient supervision to progress in my work.
Overall great balance since my missions were interesting and we planned in advance what there were. Sometimes I got stuck and did not know where to go and the team was busy trading and couldn't help immediately. But then there was always some report to read or I could discuss the trading strategies with the team
Hard to discuss this one. I was doing analysis for the traders. Therefore I didn't havce immediate responsability but eventually my results could be taken into account by the traders.
I feel like I've learned a lot on many different levels. Trading power implies understanding power prices formation that comes from market behaviour, power plant's technical constraints, primary energy market, market regulation etc. Therefore even though I haven't become an expert in these fields, at least I got to see part of it, receive training about these topics which has raised my understanding and my curiosity. Plus you get to learn how a market works, how traders operate, how analysis is carried out and used in the decisions
The Company
Serious. Every one works hard and is focused. But it didn't prevent us from having a drink after working
Excellent. Training sessions, meeting with people from all the departments, personal meeting with a mentor and HR etc.
At least time, a lot. I dont see how they could have trained me more in 10 weeks. Maybe with someone dedicated to teaching me VBA on the first days but my coworkers did answer all of my questions when I had some

Excellent if you like the job. The company will invest in you for specific training if necessary. The offices are great and overall great ambiance. Then it is a trading company and there is stress/energy, depends how you like it.
The Culture
We shared lunch, grab drinks after working and saw each other on week ends
Victoria in London is an expensive place. Full of pubs though but it is difficult to afford restaurants. But then 2 tube stops or a bike ride and you get whatever you want. It's London ...
Didn't try it. But then the offices are in London so you get what one of the biggest city in the world has to offer
Once again, the company is in central London so you basically can do whatever you want to do
