The Role
I worked in audit in London for 3 weeks in July this year and really enjoyed my placement. I have a friend who recommended Deloitte as he had interred there last year and my experience was similarly positive, with a good variety of client work in audit,
The people I worked alongside, week in week out, were second to none. We socialised together after work and even in the office there was a relaxed but professional air, which I really enjoyed
I didn't really have one supervisor as I was managed by a pair of managers but both were supportive and gave greater insight into the wider work we undertook as a team, not just what I was doing, and it was this insight that I really wanted.
I was busy and occasionally remained a few hours extra to complete my work but this was through choice rather than expectation. I would say I was busy but that was welcome and I wouldn't want it any other way.
As alluded to above I was given a lot of responsibility - I was working independently for some sections of audit work. However there were other times when I worked collaboratively and the responsibility was shared.
I don't feel the work was related closely to my degree, but that said I did develop areas of Excel and wider MS Office that I did not know existed before, and I had thought myself highly skilled in those software packages. So overall I increased my skills, yes
The Company
The atmosphere was congenial. More laid back in some ways but always professional, as one would maybe expect from a firm such as this. I didn;t get to meet the whole office as the staff numbers are very large indeed.
I feel the placement was very well set up. I especially enjoyed having a buddy contact before the start of the placement, and we have stayed in touch afterwards from time to time. The support network is excellent.
The company invested time to make me welcome and provide structured work in my placement.

I have been made an offer to rejoin Deloitte next year, so the future employment prospects are favorable. I am looking forward to rehoining the projects I worked on during the placement, hopefully, as I made some strong links with clients and staff.
The Culture
Yes. Immediately we socialised from day one actually, with a lunch put on for all starters and then there were lots of opportunities to mix afterwards at various points. I especially enjoyed the big group dinner that was towards the end of the stint.
As expected
Nightlife wan't explored particularly but is probably good
I took time on recommendation from my internal contact and friend to look into the clubs and societies on offer and I was very impressed at the variety of activities available. I particularly want to be involved in the Ride Across Britain at a later date,
