The Role
My placement was great! The best parts were the chance to visit clients and do work alongside older full time members of staff and learn from them. The placement went by very quickly and I'm glad I did it - it should really enhance my career options
I felt very valued . The only problem was sometimes I found it hard to hear back from the person assigned to be my contact but when i needed help I got this from other people instead so it wasnt a big issue.
My manager Emma was really helpful and friendly and was very supportive so I didn;t need to ask anyone else questions like about my timesheet or anything as it was always explained by her. This was great and made me feel welcome
I was kept busy most of the time but there were a few days when there wasnt much work to do. But I didnt feel bored or anything as I could help other people from time to time or was given small tasks to do. Sometimes I did coffee runs for the team too.
The work I did was the same as the first year starter was doing so I was given a lot of responsibility. I was surprised I was working alone on some areas and felt nervous but all my work was reviewed and corrected where it needed it
I am back on my degree and am more confident and am more sure about where I want to work in the future, Working with people and using the software were skills I developed during the Summer and they will help in my degree
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was professional and everyone was busy with work, but everyone was helpful when i needed it. Out at clients things were still busy and I got to meet these workmates better and we had some socials too which were good!
The emails I got before I started and the facebook group and competitions were really helpful. I got to know people who started with me then. Once I started I had lots of talks about risk and making a good impression, interview skills and other areas which were helpful
Because I had a lot of support from the people I worked with I would say the firm were great investing in me. I think i will have more chances to develop skills if I join again on the graduate scheme and study towards ACA grades
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
As I liked my placement so much I wanted to stay at the end of the time with the company. It is really appealing to rejoin and I hope I can especially if I can take a gap year at the end of my degree which I think the firm can agree to
The Culture
There was a drinks and a meal during the placement and it was really good to meet up with everyone!! I made lots of friends from this and the induction event at the beginning and we were treated really well throughout
The cost of living was fine, I stayed with family and had to commute to work and clients and this wasn't too expensive. This would be my biggest cost if I came back and worked again in the city but it wouldnt put me off!
The nightlife was good with lots of places to go. We went out a few times a week but not everyone could come out because people worked in different places. The places we went out to were very smart and nice venues, especially near the office where we went most
I could do wider things out of work from what people I worked with said but I did'nt do these.
