The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was able to learn a lot about PwC and where I could possibly fit in in the organisation. I appreciated the amount of effort that went into organising the week and the fact that we had presentations from senior people in the firm.
I felt as if I developed my team working skills throughout the week, as I participated in many group exercises, and not only felt valued by my colleagues but also appreciated the ideas they brought to the group which in turn made me value them.
The recruitment helpers were always there to help, and their effort into making sure everything was organised was really good.
We had quite intense days, but in the evenings activities were organised so that we could relax, which made the day a good balance.
As we were working in groups most of the time, each group member contributed equally to the task at hand.
Throughout the week, I felt I developed many skills that will be useful in many circumstances. These skills included team work, communication and presentation skills.
The Company
There was a positive and friendly atmosphere throughout the week.
The organisers had made sure we always had something to do, even relax! It was very well organised and I really appreciated the fact that so many of PwC's employees were able to come and talk to us about their experiences.
The company asked us to write down goals at the beginning of the week in terms of what we hoped to achieve from the week, and we reviewed these at the end. Each attendee was therefore able to use the week most effectively.
Sports and Social Club
They offered me an internship at the end of the week.
The Culture
In the evenings, all the placement students would have some relaxation time in which we socialised and got to know each other better.
Socialising occurred in the evenings at the centre in which we were living.
We were in a residential centre in Chalfont, and so we didn't really leave the centre but had most of our entertainment inside.
In the evenings, there were many activities that were organised, for example one evening there was a sports day, and on one day there was even face painting involved!
