The Role
I absolutely loved my placement with M&G! It was an amazing experience in a such a vibrant environment.
I felt as if I have worked there for quite some time from the beginning. All of my colleagues were very welcoming and accepting.
Whenever I experienced any difficulties my line manager provided full support to help me understand what is required from me. Although she was quite busy every day, she always found time to assist me.
The workload usually gets higher before the quarter end reporting period, There is always work to be finished, so you would not be left with nothing to do. As a whole the work is varying.
I was given a lot of responsibility as I was involved in a number of projects where I contributed significantly. Usually you must gain approval from the manager when working on a significant piece of work.
Now that I am back at University, I recognise that the skills I acquired are really helping me.
The Company
Unique is the best word to describe it. You just have to experience it to understand it.
The role was pretty well structured, but half way across I started working for two extra teams. At first it felt stressful, but proved to be really helpful for my understanding of the business.
There are free workshops/sessions which develop personal skills. There are also online courses available for all employees, but whole-day paid training is not available for interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
There are a variety of Graduate schemes available to suit the needs of all applicants.
The Culture
Personally I was not involved as I joined at a time when usually there is no placement intake. Although, from what I have seen there were a lot of social events for interns and placement students who joined during the summer.
There are a lot of pubs, cafes, restaurants around the office, it's in the City! But it is London, so I can say it is expensive.
Cannot really say, did not experience London's nightlife that much.
There were a lot of socials outside the office, such as football tournaments, dancing classes and so on.
