The Role
I've learnt loads of things that are going to be useful for both my future careers and my education. The work I've done at Citi was/will be used by other employees and/or clients so even though this was just an internship, I was given real responsibility and I very much enjoyed contributing.
I was always made to feel like part of the team: when we had a meeting, the other colleagues always asked me if I have anything to say/questions, etc. Everyone was really helpful and they treated me like a new full-time employee.
I was always given help if I needed it, whether it was from my manager or other teammates.
There were days where I spent long hours at work, trying to get things done before the deadline, but on most days it was just the right mix: I had something meaningful to do, but it didn't feel like overpowering or unmanageable amount of work.
All the projects I've been working on will be used by the business and are tasks that if I was not there would have to be done by someone else from the team.
The knowledge and skills I've gained will help me in the last year of my studies and the network I've developed will definitely help me in my future career.
The Company
Jokes everywhere, but obviously, could get more quiet at busy times when the work demanded your full attention.
Social events almost every week, there was a trading game and sales pitches every week.
The full time employees helped me a lot to familiarise myself with some concepts/programmes in the business and they invested a lot of time into educating me.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
I've got an offer for full-time job.
The Culture
The class was a very good mix, so everyone found someone with similar hobbies/interests. Outside firm-organised events, there were intern-organised parties which were good fun.
London, so very expensive. But again, this was a (very well) paid internship, so you could go out quite often.
Again, it was in London so there is pretty much everything you could ask for.
Citi has many opportunities to get involved - starting with sports that you can join and play with your colleagues, to art and galleries opportunities and also employee-run societies that promote awareness of various issues.
