The Role
It was a unique experience that I loved, I loved the job role I was given and it was adapted so it was fully relevant to my course at University.
I was able to develop my skills and also learn new ones and also expand my knowledge of National Grids operations with the help of Newnet which is an employee resource group that provides learning and development talks and site visits to places such as Grain LNG etc. I was also able to gain ideas for my final year dissertation and got to use National Grid as my client.
The Company
I was based in Warwick which is the head quarters for National Grid and it was a very relaxed place to be based as it offers outside seating, coffee areas for informal meetings etc.
We got to take part in a 4 day Development workshop
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I was lucky enough to get sponsored which means you get an automatic invite to the graduate assessment centre so do not need to apply with an application form etc, and they give you money towards books and software allowance and £2,000 for your final year at University but if you are a year in industry you get this every year throughout university.
The Culture
Yer there was around 20 odd students based at Warwick and around 15-20 based elsewhere around the UK but all got to meet up at events such as site visits, development talks etc.
I lived at home but the only cost I had to pay was petrol to and from work which did set me back a few pennies each week!
Leamington isnt the biggest town but has a few good bars etc,
