The Role
It was a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced business environment and I'm so pleased that I got to do it. The level of responsibility and trust that I was given I feel was second-to-none and the type of work that was generally given was really interesting.
I found it a great place to work as all of the people I worked with were really genuine, fun to be around and always happy to help. The culture of the firm is one that there is an expectation that if someone approaches you for advice, that you give it and I can say 100% that whenever I needed to consult someone they were always more than happy to help.
There was constant advice and supervision offered along the way to help you develop the basic skills set that you required to carry out the job role. However, unlike a lot of other places that I have worked, the management were perfectly happy with leaving you to get on with the work if they felt you were capable (which was fantastic). Again, very good management style and brilliant rapport with the staff.
To clarify, this was not a case of me being bored, but more an issue of being very busy all the time. It is a very demanding environment as you are expected to multitask constantly and move between different projects on a daily (almost hourly basis) to balance your deadlines.
The role was amazing as after my initial training, I was slowly given more and more responsibility, to the extent that in the final 3 weeks I was sorting my own workload, and delegating tasks to other colleagues as well. I was sent out to client sites and the onus was on me to deliver what the firm expected and it was a great experience. Absolutely fantastic!
It was definitely something that I will be able to other areas through gaining a knowledge of project management skills, the experience of working in a fast-paced office environment and dealing with my own ongoing workload effectively.
The Company
The office itself was quite average as there is a tendency of when people are in work, there is an ethic of productivity so the atmosphere could be a little quiet at times.
I felt that the internship, from a HR perspective was run very well as we were told everything well in advance, and that was much appreciated. However, I felt that in terms of getting off the ground at the beginning, finding work was a bit slow initially. But this was not the case at the end.
It is very clear that PwC are keen to grow talent. They did lots to prepare all of us to work within our roles, but in Management Consultancy, it can be the case that you ultimately have to learn a lot of your role 'on the job' itself.

Great! If you are good, then they will offer you a job at the end of the internship. And best of all, they are very honest with you from the beginning of the application process to the final day of your internship that this is the case.
The Culture
Everyone meets up after work and there were lots of chances to meet many of the permanent staff as well as other interns whilst there. There was even a couple of ad hoc nights out as well!
Being in London, it was fairly expensive to go out. However, there are a couple of bars/pubs nearby that we managed to find that were not too expensive.
Central London is renowned for its nightlife so this was definitely good fun.
There were a fair few opportunities from sports clubs, socials, events organising and even general ad hoc meetings thrown by people within the firm so was generally ok. More explanation of how to get involved in these would have been much appreciated though.
