The Role
The scheme was divided into two six month placements. Both were interesting and challenging.
I was given responsibility and the opportunity to play an active role within the companies.
I felt supported by management but challenged at the same time.
I was very busy... the days flew by.
I was placed within roles with real responsibilty but I also had support to turn to when I felt I needed it.
I have learnt so many skills that have developed me as a person. This will no doubt come in handy!
The Company
My first six month placement was office based and the atmosphere was busy, fun, supportive and enjoyable.
It was very well organised from induction to completion.
I was provided with opportunities to develop and make real contributions to the business.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Samworth Brothers have a graduate scheme that they have designed to lead into permanent employment within one of their companies.
The Culture
The scheme assisted in ensuring that the students met before, during and at the end of the placement. I made some very good friends.
I lived at home but there always student discounts to be had in Plymouth.
With Exeter, Plymouth and Newquay in the surrounding areas there's always somewhere to go.
The active work place scheme at one of the businesses I worked at was great. It had loads available - from rock climbing to reflexology, football to horse-riding - and all at discounted prices!
