The Role
Really interesting work, only 9/10 because the work was not always challenging, very sociable colleagues, great learning experience, heavily involved with many different clients/projects.
I felt really valued from all the peoplr I worked with - manager partners and the new starters were all really friendly and supportive. I felt like one of the team
Support was fantastic both prior and during, made to feel comfortable, all questions were encouraged and answered, support staff in my deartment went out of their way to help at all times.
Dependant on different work I was doing but always busy in Corporate Tax, I was always fully briefed and people checked back on my work from time to time
Rarely set specific deadlines so had the responsibility to effectively manage my own time. Not too much responsibility as work was always reviewed at every stage so was never working on a final copy.
This will contribute a small amount to the degree I am studying but it was more a valuable insight into my future career and was a fantastic opportunity to get an idea of the tasks I would be doing on a day to day basis.
The Company
Obviously it was a hard working environment where people are often very busy so it was no party. However all colleagues were very sociable so it is easy to have some 'banter'. Also social events were organised almost every week I
impressed with the organisation of the placement, was given an opportunity to participate in different departments and various different projects.
Very well paid, many social events (all paid for), job opportunity after graduation, a lot of time spent assisting us on a day to day basis.
Sports and Social Club
Chance to apply for a job when the placement is finished to go into after graduation. Can apply for deferred entry so there is opportunity to go travelling before hand, application for job goes straight to partner interview so you don't have to go through the whole application process again.
The Culture
Many people are always up for going for a drink, dinner, sporting events / world cup games
Fairly expensive, but cheap/ student accomodation is available
Good choice of bars and clubs but there are a lot better cities for nightlife.
Many different sporting clubs/matches to attend whilst I was on my placement.
