About You
There was the perfect balance of entertaining activities and serious ones, though even the serious workshops were with such lovely people that they were still really interesting and engaging. I had a lot of fun while learning so much about myself and the company.
There were so many opportunities to talk to staff and they really did treat us as though we were on the same level as them. I felt respected and really like I was part of the EY community by the end.
There were so many feedback sessions where people would give us really honest, constructive evaluations about the kinds of people we were and how to best use our skills in each activity.
I learnt so much about myself as a leader and about my potential, as well as what I can improve upon. I am much more confident in going into interviews and asserting my strengths; EY personnel really made me feel like I have something unique to offer to the world.
The Company
Generally it was well structured; the only problem was that there was so much packed into such a short space of time that we inevitably occasionally overran. I wish that we had a bit more time at the end to properly say goodbye and do a bit more evaluation, but we were so absorbed in the previous tasks because they were such good experiences that I suppose such time problems were unavoidable.
Brilliant. There was no competition or anything so I felt like we could be really open with each other and everyone was so supportive and so helpful. They really encouraged an atmosphere of conviviality that I have rarely experienced before in such a work-oriented setting.
The entire programme was centred around my personal development; I felt much more that this was a programme about finding myself and developing my own skills than about being moulded for the company.
There were lots of opportunities to talk to people working for EY, including partners, but the programme itself was probably more focussed upon our development than on the firm itself, which I personally preferred to the idea of just work experience.
I really got an insight into the general EY attitude and what it was they valued in their people.
Very valuable in making me realise that I actually could enjoy myself in this kind of sector. I went into the programme admittedly quite sceptical about the business world and left it feeling like it is a very possible option for my future.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses.
There were lots of chances to talk to the employees outside of workshops and really get to know people over dinner.
Really useful and the employees seemed really relaxed and human - I didn't get the impression that they were putting up a façade.
I heard about a few societies and the fact that people are encouraged to have a life beyond work but didn't find out much specific.
It was honestly a life-changing experience.
