    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the internship a great deal, it turned out to be a great way to spend my summer holiday.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one, I was treated with respect and given responsibility, a couple of weeks in by the time I had learnt the ropes, I was being given a great deal of responsibility and being treated like any other employee.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance was excellent throughout the internship, at not point did I feel hesistant to ask a questions and all the people I worked with were happy to take the time to help me out

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the majority of days, I had a good amount of work and didn't feel too rushed. However there were some days where I had not been able to get booked onto a client and so I was sat in the office trying to find work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the start of the placemenet, I was given a large amount of responsibility and was used as another member of the team. This was a steep learning curve at first but helped me to get a very useful insight into different parts of the job,

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed (such as teamwork and communication) will definitely help me in the remainder of my degree and especially in a work environment after that.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very relaxed atmosphere in the office, it was easy to have a chat with the people who sat around me and they were all very happy to help if required. For the majority of the time however I was at a client site with around 2 other colleagues, you quickly bonded with the other members of the team and so got on with them very well.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • On arrival in the office, all the equipment I needed (e.g. laptop, notebook, briefcase) was provided. The organisation of getting the interns booked onto clients could have been improved by having a more centralised system, instead of each intern's mentor having to try and get them booked on themselves.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was an induction day in London where all the interns from across the country were taught the basics, from then on at the regional office any training was on the job and by the other colleagues.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

  • Yes, we went to York races one afternoon for a department social, and throughout the internship there were other opportunities to go out for various events.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I commuted from home, this was not totally applicable to me but the area in general is very reasonable, both for living and socialising.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good, large student population so vibrant.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, 5-a-side football and going to sports matches were just some of the options.
