The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It gave me a great insight into Ernst & Young and I found it a very valuable experience.
I always felt extremely valued by all of my team members. I was given complex work by many different colleagues which allowed to show off my multi-tasking skills.
I had two counsellors and one buddy, all of whom gave me more than enough support. I never felt that I couldn't speak up or voice my concerns. They really helped make my 6 weeks enjoyable and worthwhile.
Extremely busy. I always had at least one piece of work from each team member so I had to quickly learn how to prioritise. If I finished all my work then I worked on my experience map and tried to get work from different people in the tax department.
I was given plenty of responsibility. at one point, I was asked to do research and write a report on a particular tax issue. I was given little guidance as to what was expected of me in order to get the most out of the experience. I really enjoyed this task as it showed my colleague trusted me enough to tackle the task by myself.
I think the experience was invaluable and will definitely help me in my future career. I have never worked in a professional environment before so it definitely gave me a taste of what to expect once I graduate. I am looking forward to returning to EY next year,
The Company
Very welcoming. Everyone was keen to speak to the interns and make sure they were getting on okay. All staff were sent an email before we began telling them to give us work if they felt it was appropriate but this didn't really happen outwith our individual teams.
I think it was extremely organised. We had experience maps to complete so we had a rough idea of the tasks available to us and what was expected of us. We were sent on 4 day induction to Manchester which was extremely good as it allowed us to meet new people and made us more confident when entering our offices.
I think the company invested a lot of time in me and my team went out of their way to explain complex issues in order for me to understand. It would have been quicker for them to do it themselves but they thought it was worthwhile taking the extra time to explain it to me.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a graduate job with Ernst and Young and I have accepted it.
The Culture
There were a lot of charity events but not so many social events.
Very cheap as I already had a flat in the city.
Good.
There were a lot of charity events which you could take part in.
