About You
It was an amazing opportunity to learn in detail about the different professions available within accountancy which was something I had failed to be able to get clearly from other Insight Days.
There was relatively little exposure to the office environment and employees from different areas at different stages of their career.
It leaders of the day were very approachable so you were able to get all your questions answered, and so find out everything you wanted to know about both the company and the industry.
Having a detailed description of the roles of the different positions available at BDO will be extremely useful when it comes to deciding on my future career. There was also a lot of information provided about the company itself so I can make a more informed decision as to where I would like to work in the future.
The Company
It would have been nice to have more time to network with people from different sectors of the business and with different entry routes into the company. It would also have been nice to have some exposure to the office to get a feel for the working environment.
Very relaxed and comfortable.
They encouraged us to apply to the various BDO schemes, and gave advice on how to complete a successful application form, as well as interview tips.
Recent graduates ran the day so we were able to get a very good understanding of what it would be like to work there during the training period. However, it would have benefited from having speakers from different points in their career to help us understand possible career progressions.
It was very informative regarding what the company offers, including sports and charity events.
Extremely useful and gave me a clearer understanding of what areas of accountancy would be most suitable for me.
Everything Else
The networking was limited to the graduates running the day and the student recruiter.
We were given an email at the end of the day which we were told we could email any questions we may have regarding the application process or roles we're applying to.
There was a lot of emphasis put of the work-life balance of the employees.
For a detailed breakdown of the company and the areas available to work within, as well as the different qualifications taken by each area and the opportunities available for both school students and undergraduates this day was extremely useful.
