The Role
Really interesting, everyday doing something different and learnt lots.
Made me feel welcome and part of the team right from the start. I was treated no differently that a full time employee.
Regular one to one meetings and constant support from my manager and supervisor.
It can vary depending on the work that is coming in but I was never left twiddling my thumbs and always had something to work on.
It was only a few weeks before I was trusted to work on projects myself. This placement came with a lot of responsibility.
As well as securing knowledge learnt in lectures it has given me a huge range of skills and experience working in a professional lab and a huge amount of confidence.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere and a huge pool of knowledge within the department so everyday was really interesting.
Very well organised, they have had the intern scheme running for a number of years and that was obvious by the organisation of it. I had an overlap with the previous student as well which was a great help.
After this year I will have been trained in GMP as well as coming away with good experience working in a professional lab.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
No graduate scheme is available in the area I was working and a job is not guaranteed only if one is available at the time of graduating.
The Culture
A nice group of interns and we all live together so it's very social. In the company organise lots of social events as well.
Very reasonable as it is a student town and the site is on a university campus there is a lot of good prices housing and not to unreasonable living cost especially as it is so close to London.
As it is a student town it has a good night life and lots going on. Also very close to London which is very handy!
Yes located right in the centre of Reading there are lots of things to get involved in.
