The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Grant Thornton. I was given a great deal of responsibility, I had the opportunity to travel the country, I worked within a very supportive team, and I worked with a variety of clients.
I felt highly valued by my colleagues. I was given a large amount of responsibility and individual projects to complete. I always received positive feedback for my contributions and I was valued on par with other employees.
A strong level of support was given to me; not only by my manager, but by associates and other managers.
I was very busy on a daily basis. There was a great deal of work to be completed and I was given a lot of responsibility. However this did not become too overwhelming.
A great amount of responsibility. This came in the form of completing my own work as part of larger audits, as well as single-handedly liaising with senior accountants at the clients. I was also assigned my own presentations to share with other employees.
The skills I gained are highly transferable to my degree. Particularly, I was sent on a 2 day presentation skills workshop, which has enabled me to be far more confident when I'm presenting at university. In addition to this, some of the research I conducted has helped me with my dissertation this year.
The Company
Very friendly working environment, all employees were a pleasure to work with in the office.
The internship was very well structured - I found out a great deal about the format of the internship during several inductions.
Grant Thornton invested a lot of time in my personal training throughout the summer. This came in the form of induction days, training days, and workshops. My individual managers also invested a large amount of their time ensuring that I was able to do my work the highest of standards.

Very appealing. I have been offered a graduate position for 2015.
The Culture
Got on very well with other interns. Good social scene and still in contact with them.
Cost of living was subsidised by the firm, if had to work away from home.
City centre located therefore good nightlife.
Yes there were many opportunities, including sports and charity fund raisers. We even had s company sports day!
