The Role
I enjoyed that challenge the internship represented. On top of the accademical skills that every intern had, we had to work on the soft skills that are poorly developed during our university years.
As a rotational internship, you only spend a week with every team. This meant that every desk was more focused on finding a good match than finding value in every intern.
Following the general culture of the internship, you received the helped you reached out for. However, once you reach out to your manager, they try their best to help you out with your needs.
The level of work you provide is up to you. How many people can you meet in one day and still make an impact? I felt like managing my time was an important factor of my internship, and worked on average from 6:30 to 21:30.
Being an intern in Sales and Trading, we weren't certified to work and help to a relevant extent.
I believe that my internship helped me develop my self confidence and the soft skills that are needed in a day to day basis, like presenting yourself well and managing your time correctly.
The Company
On general, the atmosphere varies a lot from team to team. However you could always feel the ecxitement and drive to learn and improve.
The internship was relatively organised, even though it is entirely up to you how well you spend the time you have. Interns usually have an initial feel of being "released in the wild", but that enables you to see more and different aspects of the floor.
The company would organise initial trainings and conferences with senior partners that enabled us to have an initial feel of the industry and the company's culture.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I will be taking a full time employment with this company.
The Culture
All fellow interns would usually try to get lunch together and meet up during the weekend to blow up some steam.
The area around the offices is note expensive than areas around universities. However it is a paid internship, hence you can afford it.
Goldman is close to shoreditch, where you can find the best nightlife in London.
There were little opportunities, although each desk organised dinners with some interns.
