The Role
Gained a great amount of knowledge that isn't taught at University. Was able to develop myself and leave my mark at Mars.
The networking opportunities at Mars are fantastic. Every day I was speaking to someone in a different part of the world, and it was like a huge family. My colleagues always supported me in every project I undertook.
I had fortnightly one to ones where I was able to discuss any issues with my workload or development.
I was never bored. Every day I was given different tasks and projects to start, allowing me to reach out to new people and stakeholders.
I was responsible for a range of really important projects, such as global change programmes and global training courses. If I wanted more responsibility, I only had to reach out to my manager.
Coming back to University, I have noticed how more focused I am, and how my understanding is much greater. I have wider knowledge and can apply this in all areas of my assignments.
The Company
The ISB office (Mars Global Services) in Slough has a fantastic atmosphere and culture. Everyone knows each other and every day someone else is making you laugh or giving you insight into their area of work.
Very well organised.
I was encouraged to attend, and was allowed to attend any courses I felt would be beneficial. My personal development plan was looked at regularly, and I had 2 reviews during my placement year so that I could develop further.

The Culture
We all lived together and got on really well. Still stay in touch now even in our final year at University.
In Slough, rent was approximately £430 per month. The area wasn't very nice, so looking back we wished we would have lived in Windsor (10 minutes further).
Slough doesn't have a nightlife, but Windsor is good fun.
Yes lots. I joined the fitness classes and we had lots of socialising outside of work.
