The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Arup. All the staff were extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome.
I felt valued as those whom i was working with and around involved me in the work and spent time explaining various aspects.
Guidance and introductory information was excellence and I felt comfortable approaching them if there was any issues.
Yes. Right from the start I was introduce to current projects and given tasks to competed that contributed to the progression of the projects.
I was given a reasonable about of responsibility throughout the duration of my placement. All the work I contributed was relevant to current projects and was actually used to give more detail to work.
A greater understanding of projects in industry was achieved. A knowledge of how various specialities contribute and work together was gain and I feel it has developed my understanding of the industry
The Company
The atmosphere was generally friendly and relaxed.
I felt it was fairly organised. I was given plenty of work to do and a couple of site visits were organised to see one of the projects currently in construction.
I was not there for an extended period of time, however during my relatively short placement I was introduced to various software packages and became comforted using a number of them.
The prospect of working for Arup is highly appealing, I enjoyed my time in the office and they seem to offer plenty of opportunities for employees
The Culture
There were only a small number of fellow students however we got on well and socialised over lunch etc.
The office was in the area I live in so costs were the same as I am used to so didn't factor into anything
The nightlife it great in the area I worked. I live there as a student throughout the rest of the year.
During the short duration of my placement there were a number of activities organised for outside of work
