The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my investment banking internship at Barclays. It was a great experience in the corporate world; it was hardwork, intellectually stimulating and fun. The working environment was fantastic!
The people at Barclays were incredibly nice and helpful, and they immediately made me feel welcomed to their team. My colleagues recognised and rewarded my hard work throughout my internship and I had the opportunity of learning a lot from them.
My line manager was very supportive and brought out the best in me. He encouraged me to learn as much as I can and made sure I worked on projects where I could add value to the team.
My team kept me busy throughout my internship and ensured that I learned something new everyday. The learning curve was steep, but I was eager and committed to learn more every time I had the opportunity to.
I was surprise by the amount of responsibility I got as an intern, as I was able to work on projects together with senior managers. This allowed me to take ownership over the piece of work I was expected to deliver.
We were given weekly training from different areas within the investment bank which were very educational and provided great insight about that the different careers paths in an investment bank. This internship has been very fruitful and I fhave learned about the important skills that would be valuable in joining an investment bank
The Company
A welcoming and light hearted atmosphere to be in, which allowed everyone to be themselves whilst working hard on important deals.
Very well organised with many training sessions and events for women and cultural awareness.
Barclays provided us with a lot of support and personal training to help us grow and mature in the work environment.
After having spoken to people at Barclays, the graduate scheme sounds like a great programme with many opportunities to discover other areas of the bank if desired
The Culture
The social scene was great, as we had the opportunity to meet people from different areas of the bank and get to know other interns in a more relaxed setting.
Affordable - the area also catered for a variety of cultures!
Heading over to a pub for team drinks after a long week of hard work was great and a good environment to get to know your colleagues.
