The Role
It was great fun and very varied - lots of opportunities to learn things, meet people and attend events as well as normal day-to-day work (which was interesting for the most part, too).
My team were great at giving me valuable and interesting tasks to do - and made sure I knew what I had done well and what I could work on.
There are lots of opportunities to get feedback both on an informal basis from your team/buddy/mentor etc. and in a formal way through the firm's review system.
Extremely busy - sometimes almost too busy... but I think we all got used to it as the summer went on.
Obviously the interns don't get given the most significant tasks to do but I felt as though the work I was doing was important and interesting and I could always see its relevance.
I think both the knowledge I gained as well as both the technical and soft skills I learnt will be of use to me.
The Company
Very good - much more relaxed than I had expected.
Very well organised - there were lots of timetabled events which we were always made aware of well in advance.
There was a week of training at the beginning of the scheme and additional training (e.g. Datastream, Bloomberg, others) was provided if requested. We also had several talks and seminars each week which provided a good opportunity to learn.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
Very good - a number of us received job offers at the end of the summer.
The Culture
Yes, relatively good.
London is an expensive place to live but I didn't have any problems given that the scheme paid very well.
London was really great in this respect.
Plenty - from sports teams to social events to volunteering.
