The Role
An overall brilliant placement with lots of experience gained
As a main member of the network support team you are valued as a asset to the company due to the responsibilities the intern has.
Always around when advice or learning was needed. Even if nobody else is in the office they are only a call away.
The intern has big responsibilities on the network, there is always something to do. How busy you are depends on how much you want to learn and throw yourself into it.
As much responsibility as a Full time employee. You are taught a awful lot at the start about the bespoke systems, after this you are left to resolve issues on your own.
Due to the amount learnt on this placement I've covered 90% of the final year material on the Computer Networks course at Bournemouth University. There is a steep learning curve on this placement and is invaluable experience and great for the CV / further employment
The Company
Brilliant atmosphere with colleagues that are ALWAYS up for a laugh and joke.
Everything was organised for me to start in a good timely manor. Once i started everything was organised for me completely.
I was able to get as much training as I liked - with the offer of courses like CCNA paid for.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
Cognito is a growing company which will be around for quite some time to come. Most interns are offered a position back at the company depending on performance!
The Culture
Brilliant social scene if you want to be a part of it. Awesome all expenses paid Christmas party too!
Newbury is a very expensive area to live in rent wise - i lived in Swindon and commuted - works out cheaper if you can drive
You will need to look towards Reading/ Bristol for a night out, there isnt a lot in Newbury, unless you want a good pub!
In short, yes. There were all different kinds of clubs that you can get involved in. I joined up for a Karting club for example.
