About You
The open day was really enjoyable. Everyone was very approachable and willing to take the time to talk about their experiences of working at RPC and also seemed to be genuinely interested in what I had to say.
Everyone went out of their way to do make me feel welcome. The solicitors were very friendly and willing to take the time to talk to us at length about their work and the firm. We were invited to a reception at the end of the day and it was striking how many solicitors and partners took the time to come down to meet and greet us, particularly in relation to the relatively small size of our group. The HR department were also incredibly approachable in the lead up to the open day and in clearing up any questions we had afterwards.
We were given a large amount of support throughout the day. Where there were tasks which we had to do they were explained to us very clearly and we were given plenty of opportunities to ask for clarification.
The Company
The day was very well structured. We were given an introductory talk to explain the structure of the day at the outset and we were kept busy throughout.
The atmosphere was incredibly friendly. It was also striking how open the solicitors were about their work and life around the office more generally. I came away feeling that I had been given a far more accurate impression of the firm than at most other open days I have attended.
The trainees who we spoke to were incredibly open with us about what life as a trainee entailed. We were divided into groups of two or three and then assigned to a trainee who answered all of our questions about what life was like with RPC and how they had found life with the firm since joining.
Having spoken at length to the trainees and also having had the opportunity to meet a number of associates and partners at a later networking event I felt by the end of the day that I had gained a solid appreciation of the culture at RPC.
Although I was certain that I wanted to become a solicitor I wasn't entirely sure as to the nature of firm I wanted to apply to. The open day definitely helped to clarify this for me.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses.
There was a drinks reception at the end of the day which allowed us the opportunity to meet with people from throughout the firm. We also had an opportunity to chat with some of the trainees over lunch and during our tour of the departments of the firm.
I already have.
