The Role
I did enjoy my time at G E Capital. I found everyone extremely welcoming and kind. Many people went to the next level to ensure that i was okay, found everything and that i was comfortable and happy. The office is clean and light with good working conditions, a great cafeteria and kitchenette with free tea and coffee!!
I felt like i was treated as if i was a normal member of the team. i was expected to do the same things as everyone else. This means that i had a truly valuable and authentic placement.
I was given as help whenever needed, however the initial training could be improved by having more structure. once i raised this issue with my manager a plan was put into place and this improved.
I found myself very busy. There is always something to do, i never sat and did nothing as the workload is constant. At times when the volume of workload was quiet, we still had training and other things to do including helping and learning about different departments.
I had the same responsibility as my full employee peers.
I gained a truly valuable and authentic experience which truly reflects the GE culture and working environment. This has provided me with many examples and insights to use in studies and furthermore, to get real world experience to help me find a permanent professional job.
The Company
The office environment is friendly but professional. Everyone does their best to be considerate and even team leaders and managers will take an interest in you as a person, not just an employee. The facilities team are always on hand to help with matters such as chairs, heating, stationary, cleaning and more! This makes individual needs seem important and this too helps. The team spirit does come to mind with singing and a gathering for birthdays and special events. As you can have massages, facials and nail treatment for a reduced price in the office, this also contributes to an overall positive environment.
The course was organised with time spent with different departments to ensure a broad overview.
I was treated just as a normal employee, including training and development. I have worked with my manager to gain very important development for the workplace.

I would be happy to take a full time position at G E following my placement year.
The Culture
Intern lunches and team outings have happened. I have made plenty of friends in the workplace and there are various events for networking with the whole business for example the summer bbq, drinks and nibbles to say thanks for good work held by managment and christmas party.
