The Role
I really enjoyed my work placement, as much as you can enjoy a 9-5! It was really good experience and I have gained a lot of new skills
I felt like an integral part of the team, allianz expect good quality work from you and you are relied upon to produce it
I was given a lot of support and training for my role. The initial training is done by the previous placement student and I in turn trainee my replacement. Your supervisor is on hand all year round to help you.
Quite busy, at times it was a mad rush and others were quieter.
Given a lot of responsibility, I was a key part of the process for getting development work done in the company
I think the skills I picked up at allianz have made me a more organised person and I think about things in a more structured way
The Company
Relaxed friendly atmosphere where everyone was there to get on and help each other. Employees are valued as people and allianz have a great support system for outside of work issues.
The scheme is quite well organised although we didn't know which role we were applying for - you apply to a number of rolees
The company invests heavily in training it's staff and you are free to go on a variety of courses
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, if this was closer to home allianz would be my number 1 choice for grad positions
The Culture
Yes we would all go out with the other placement students and also the grads. There we're monthly team events and big company parties twice a year
Guildford, Surrey is very expensive! Paid 400 a month for my share of a shabby 2 bed flat.
Variety of bars and clubs and close enough to London.
Loads of stuff: sports teams, choir, day trips, subsidised holidays
