The Role
I had the most fantastic 10 weeks- I got the opportunity to interact with so many different teams and met so many dynamic, supportive and interesting people.
As soon as we arrived, everyone was really interested in getting to know us and making us feel welcome. Throughout my time, whatever project I was working on, everyone was excited to have us and really interested in what we had to say,
As well as being given a buddy and a supervisor, we could join a number of affinity networks. I always felt supported by my manager, and as our buddies and supervisors were in different teams to us, I felt we were supported across the whole division,
It is a very busy internship, but that is exactly what I wanted- it meant I got to experience so many different aspects of the firm, and meet a huge variety of individuals. I never had a moment where I was bored, and loved that we were involved in everything so quickly.
I felt I was able to take the initiative and expand on certain aspects of the projects I was working on; in fact, this was actively encouraged.
In particular, the training I received on presentation skills has really helped me. We had several sessions discussing presenting confidently and presenting your ideas coherently- I can tell that, returning for the final year of my degree, I am much more confident in presenting, and can present my ideas in a more ordered, and effective, way.
The Company
The office was always busy, and had a calm and positive atmosphere. It was really easy to speak to members of different teams in the office, which meant we quickly got to know everyone.
There was a timetable of events (alongside work) throughout the internship. This was very well-organised, and allowed us to interact with interns both within our division and also across the whole London campus. Several of the events were international, allowing us, via VC, to see, and hear from, our global intern class.
I felt the firm took the time over the 10 weeks to invest in developing our skills- alongside events which focused on presentation skills, Excel skills etc., what really impressed me was that our division listened to the skills we wanted to develop, and put on sessions specifically organised for us.

Throughout our time at the firm, we met a huge variety of individuals at different stages in their careers. It was clear that the firm invested in them from the start and gave them access to so many exciting and varied opportunities. One thing which was stressed to us was that there was a high level of mobility within the firm, both across teams within a division, but also with regard to working internationally. Almost everyone we spoke to told us that, provided you were open about your hopes for your career path (e.g. if you wanted to work internationally), the firm listened to you. We met so many employees who have stayed at the firm for many years- they clearly feel valued and loyal to the firm, something I also felt after just 10 weeks there.
The Culture
Various events were organised throughout the ten weeks, which made it really easy to socialise with our fellow interns.
It was fairly high, but as lots of the intern events were organised by the company, we were able to socialise with interns across the London campus without it being too expensive.
There were so many bars and restaurants, and it really was a lovely place to go out after work. Most clubs were also easily accessible on the tube.
We were given the opportunity to help in the community for a day, which enabled the interns to get to know each other while also, as such a large group, making a real difference. Throughout the ten weeks, there was also several activities organised outside of work (bowling, evening events both in the offices and at external venues).
