  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working here, there are many other interns so always someone I could speak to that was in the same boat as me and I was really valued in my department.

  • I always felt like a good part of the team, going to all team meetings.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was always there when I needed help, even for projects she wasn't directly linked with.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • They eased me in gently but time goes really fast as I always had some sort of project I was working on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had a lot of responsibility and was trusted and relied on to get tasks done by myself but help was there when needed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that not only will these skills help me when looking for future employment but they will also help me when finishing off my degree as they have improved my motivation.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Open office layout, I sat on a pod with 4 interns. The office was lively and people were always baking and bringing in cakes. Everyone that walks past says good morning.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My role was changing when I began but now it is much more organized, the training I received when I began was very organized and I have regular meetings with my department.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of the training I had was done in house. I had training on Photoshop and other programmes that I would be using.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They have some great grad schemes under various different subjects, having seen how different parts of the business work I would be interested in staying at GE in the future.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there is an intern society which plays sport such as football and netball and goes on trips such as Thorpe park.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The social scene is ok, but it is very close to London and Watford. The cost of living is slightly more expensive as it is down south.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in this area isn't great but there are many places nearby such as Watford, Reading, London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes many, lots of volunteering and charity events to take part in.
