The Role
The work itself was not enjoyable and involved many routine, basic tasks with a low level of cognitive engagement, however I was given autonomy which allowed me to perform more engaging, fulfilling activities. My colleagues were also great!
My colleagues were a pleasure to work with and were always happy to make time for me despite being extremely busy. The work I was doing was often utilised and added value to departmental operations.
Something I was pleasantly surprised by at LBG was how happy everyone was to help you, whether you needed information to complete some work, or you didn't know how to do something, or even if you wanted to do some shadowing in another department.
I was busy in periods but despite regularly asking for work I often had no formal tasks to undertake. However I did use this time to enrich my knowledge of LBG and the financial services industry.
I was given work which was of varying importance.
I learnt loads about networking, MS office, communication and project management.
The Company
Busy while being laid back. People were always up for a laugh.
Smooth operation from the LBG emerging talent team - cannot fault.
The group sessions, charity challenge, and webinars (well, one of them) were all great for personal training and development.
National Travel
Above 25 days holiday
The nature of work would not be creatively stimulating enough for me
The Culture
The other interns are really great and the charity challenge help you bond. The cities I worked in also made for great social life.
For a Northern town Leeds is actually quite expensive, and commuting into work is not expensed and so can also be costly. Working in London is just next level expensive.
Cannot fault the pubs, bars and clubs in the area.
The charity challenge was great for this, and my office also organised a leaving dinner for me!
