About You
Really enjoyable, informative and engaging. Opportunity to experience different departments within the firm, network with fee earners and learn about different practice areas.
Given real work to do for clients and that you knew would benefit real cases. Especially in IP where the level of trust and willingness to explain more complicated areas of law or cases made you feel involved and an asset to the team.
Assigned a trainee buddy and supervisor (who you sat with) in each department. Also assigned a partner mentor throughout the scheme.
Learnt about different practice areas and experienced some of the types of work carried out by trainees in the departments. Attended networking and negotiation workshops.
The Company
Good opportunity to experience different departments, learn about different practice areas and meet fee earners. In my second 'seat' my supervisor changed at the last minute however this was due to unexpected circumstances.
Extremely friendly, welcoming and friendly throughout the scheme. People were happy to explain things to you.
Paid for the scheme, given real work to do, attended talks given by fee earners on different practice areas, workshops to improve skills
Sat in two different departments and given the opportunity to complete real work to be used in client cases, including attending client meetings.
Opportunity to work within the firm and meet multiple fee earners. Able to talk to trainees about their experiences.
Very interesting and informative insight demonstrating the culture, climate and work involved in a career in law.
Everything Else
I was paid £350 per week throughout the scheme
