    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The other members of the team which I was working in during my placement were very kind, and welcoming. I was always helped with work which I was either struggling with or wanted advice on and I was always given the opportunity for more work and variety in the projects which I was working on. The placement was both extremely enjoyable and rewarding and I truly believe that the educational value of the placement was invaluable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt tremendously valued by all those within the team which I was working with. There was a continuous flow of work which was put forward for me to do and members within the team were always keen to get me involved with work, meetings and discussions about various projects.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance which I received during my time at Jones Lang LaSalle was invaluable. People were more than happy to sit down and discuss problems with me or talk through the work so that I knew exactly what to do. To this end I found that by the end of my time with the company I had learnt a vast amount which I had no, or very little knowledge of when I arrived.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although there were some days where there was not as much work for me to do, on the whole I had a continuous flow of work. Having spoken to people from other placements it struck me that I seemed to be given more work than them which I believe is testament to the team wanting to further my education in the field. Even on days where there was not a vast amount of work members of the team would send documents and information my way so that I could look at potential future projects and develop my knowledge base.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Through my placement I was awarded more responsibility as the placement continued. Whilst in the first to weeks I was learning as much as I could and was shadowing the movements of other members of the team, towards the end I was allowed to complete numerous pieces of work on my own and then go through what I had done at a later date with other members. This was extremely rewarding as I felt that I had proven my ability within the team and furthermore it was a chance for me to understand the process of working on projects from research to completion.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that the skill which I have developed on my placement are invaluable assets to my future, practical training within a busy office environment is experience which cannot be gained theoretically and so this is something which I was particularly pleased about. Furthermore the development of project development skill and communicating with professionals was very beneficial. whilst we had prepared for this type of work through group projects and presentations at university, to carry out projects 'for real' was a great learning opportunity.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Brilliant atmosphere, friendly and welcoming, new people were introduced around the office and everyone was very easy to talk to.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The schemes which the company runs were very well set up, each placement student had a desk, phone number and email with a personalised email signature. The fact that the company go to this level of detail shows that the are committed to you but furthermore that they want you to work as part of the wider team whilst the students/interns at the company.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • the company put a great amount of time into showing me how do carry out the necessary tasks in the professional manner which was expected of the employees of the company. Further to this a number of current employees say down with me to discuss future options for my career, sharing inside knowledge and experience.
