    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the internship and I highly suggest that it's worth applying to.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Lloyds Banking Group have a great culture where your input is always valued by other colleagues and as a result, I always felt like it was a safe place to voice my ideas.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You are paired with a mentor, normally at management level, who is used to managing teams and will therefore be well equipped in making sure you get all the development needs that you require.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This depends on where you are placed and how much effort you choose to put in. I personally was busy every minute of the day. I knew others however that if they wanted, could do nothing for the majority of the day. I highly suggest you put in the effort as you will learn a lot more in a much shorter time span.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for a main project and numerous ad hoc smaller tasks. What I created was actually used by the company and put up online, so I would say it did hold some value.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I wouldn't say I really gained new skills, as I wouldn't have gotten the job in the first place if I did't have them. But I will say that I definitely did hone them further.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Again depends on placement. One office was very relaxed and friendly. Another was just as friendly, but more serious as it was the trading floor.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This is the main area for improvement. While they do have a great internship scheme, where it lacks is organisation. The talent group need to organise themselves better and communicate the same message to all it's interns and scholars, as opposed to telling different people different things.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lloyds Banking Group did hold induction days and the occasional event. They are excellent in the amount that they invest in you, especially at the graduate level. Definitely one of their biggest strengths.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is a clear scope for progression and you are aware of what you need to do before you are ready for the next level.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Again it depends on how senior your team is as well as how 'serious' the work place you are placed, in terms of colleagues. In terms of fellow interns/scholars, we went out a lot.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was placed in London, so the living costs are as bad as it can be. However, going back to the point about how much Lloyds Banking Group are willing to financially support you, they paid for the accommodation for the summer.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again it was London so it's as good as it can be, minus the prices.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I believe there were a few sports club dotted here and then but nothing widely available and publicised.

    3/5
