The Role
I worked with an excellent team who were always thinking of ways in which I could get involved and also learn.
As the 10 weeks went by I became more integrated into the team and took certain responsibilities off of other colleagues meaning they could focus on other things.
My team were very supportive and would always find time to discuss and answer questions on anything I had been working on.
I was fairly busy but at times I used my initiative to find work where it had otherwise not been given to me.
I was made responsible for many things but in particular, I made a number of client presentations for meetings and included slides with analysis I had done on the relevant topics. I was regularly involved in client calls and meetings; I would make the communication notes on these for future reference.
We had intern training sessions once a week where we learnt about different products. The day-to-day work taught me to deal with work as soon as possible and to communicate clearly with all stakeholders. This is invaluable for my future career as I feel I can now jump into a Graduate job with more confidence.
The Company
Relaxed but busy. My department was client-facing so phones would always be ringing and the meeting rooms would always be busy.
Very well, we had organised training sessions, a charity challenge and in 'intern challenge'. We had a start and closing event for all interns but this was simply to teach us of the company's values.
Many existing employees gave up their time to teach us about their area of expertise.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Good starting salary and sign-on bonus.
The Culture
The interns working in my department were close knit and we would go out for dinner every few weeks. The existing employees were happy to go for a drink after work and there wer monthly office drinks.
The City is expensive but I was living at home.
London has an active nightlife..
The Charity Challenge was the main way to get involved with fundraising with other interns outside of work.
