The Role
I'm giving the placement a 10/10. If it was possible i'd give it more. I always wanted to go into a work placement, as opposed to further study, and it was definitely the right choice. I can safely say I enjoyed every minute, my team was fantastic, the work was challenging and I learned a hell of a lot. So much so I had my placement extended! This doesn't just extend to my team, everyone I interacted with was nice, it just has a fantastic culture and brilliant values behind the company.
The most rewarding part of it was being able to contribute back. After working on several projects, people were coming to me for help for certain topics. This gave the utmost feeling of value.
The majority of the time I was working there, I was working on projects either with my manager, or closely related to what my manager was doing. Paired with the fact I was sat next to him, I was able to work with him and be supported whenever necessary. There was a huge skill set across the team and so I was able to go to anyone for help.
On a daily basis I was kept pre-occupied with team related work, as well as internship-specific projects. There was never a dull moment. The work was challenging and kept me busy.
I was given as much responsibility as any other employee. The fact that people I had worked with were surprised when I said i'm leaving, because they thought i was an employee, says it all. I was working on projects that were productionised and (hopefully) used today. Because of the responsibility, I had to make sure to be extra careful with the work I produced.
The experience i've gained was invaluable and I've always considered the placement to be more valuable than my degree itself. With a individual project coming up for my third year, the project management and skills i've learnt throughout the internship will no doubt come in use.
The Company
In my office specificly, the team was incredibly friendly, and fairly lively. It wasn't a case of sitting in silence all day and powering through some work. We went for lunches together, did activities together and generally had fun.
The placement was organised well and kept me busy throughout. I always had work to do and there were extra social events planned for interns throughout the year (Which was great considering some interns across other divisions you may never see!).
I believe the company invested in me as much as any other worker there. I was given constant training, whether that was actual training classes, mentoring, learning from my colleagues or from having a chat with others. The firm invests a lot in their employees, and there's no distinguishable difference between how much is invested in an employee as opposed to an intern.

The prospect of going to work there again couldn't appeal to me more. I can't wait to get back into working with my team and being a part of that culture again.
The Culture
Placement students were very close and were all communicating on a daily basis. There were organisational events specific for interns, as well as team events and other socials. All of these provided a very social atmosphere which was great for networking and keeping in contact with your fellow interns.
London is london, it's fairly expensive and depends where you live. My flat was fairly expensive in Shepherd's Bush, but the pay from the job more than subsided this.
The nightlife in london is fantastic, and there's always something to do, you just need to make sure you take a look around and make the most of it!
I personally didn't get involved in that many opportunities, however there are plenty. The perks of having a gym in the building meant I was spending a fair amount of time there! There were plenty of opportunities though, and they will either be found by yourself, or your team / fellow interns will help to get you involved.
