The Role
Everyday I woke up looking forward to going into the office. I learnt something new everyday.
At first it was difficult to integrate myself into the team as it was quite a quiet and focussed group so the opportunity to get to know them was limited. With time this changed and I felt involved in the team. Maybe a little bit more effort in welcoming would have been good.
Throughout the internship I always had someone to go to and ask questions and get help from. I managed to pick up a lot of deadlines from each team member and was managed by the individual.
Yes, I always had something to get on with which built up the number of deadlines for me, keeping me busy and alert.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility for an internship, the team relied on me when sending me out of the office to do particular inspection jobs and also in house tasks that involved no supervision. It was great to be so hands on.
Everything I learnt in my internship I have adapted to my studies at university. My internship also encouraged me to further a topic that I worked on for my dissertation in my final year.
The Company
Everyone was friendly. There was an exciting buzz around the office.
The best it could have been. We had a timetable full of exciting tours, trips, presentations and networking events, as well as sports events. The Grad team set up a brilliant programme for us all.
I met with a couple of colleagues from different teams who had the time to sit down for a coffee and chat with me to tell me about their journey and the business. I was given support and training out of their time which made me love the working ethics of the company.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The company offers a graduate programme. Throughout the internship we were given unlimited help and advice on how to apply. There were talks from employees who started out as grads and who were still there who all had high praise for the company.
The Culture
Yes, we all got along very well. I was lucky enough to get 2 graduates on my team so we went out for drinks after work.
Obviously being in the centre of London the prices were higher, but not unaffordable. I occasionally brought a packed lunch in though.
Very fun, we managed to go out a couple of times.
Lots. As placement students the Grad team and others updated us on what sports events were on every week. I played for the hockey team one week and got very involved - it was wicked to see that side of the company. We had the option for volleyball, rounders too.
