The Role
I really enojoyed my placement within the Petplan at Allianz. I was given lots of opportunities to gain a wider insight and understanding of the business as a whole.
I feel I was valued by my colleagues. I was given the oppotunity to contribute ot lots of different projects and invited to management meetings.
My manager gave me lots of support and advice. I had regular catch-ups and progress reviews outlining my development. All memebers of management were enthusiastic and encouraged me to ask questions.
I was reasonably busy most days. On quieter days I was given the option to shadow and learn more about other departments which I found extremely valuable.
I was given the opportunity to contribute towards management reports and projects. I feel I was given a lot of responsibility and learning opportunities during my placement.
I have developed my skill set greatly, including producing reports and data analysis. I feel these are skills which will be essential in my future career.
The Company
The office environment was very relaxed. Everyone was friendly and took a genuine interest in ensuring my placement was a success. There was dress down every friday and lots of bake sales and different events.
The internship was organised well. Prior to the beginning of the internship there were several opportunities to meet the other interns and graduates through organsied events. There was also an induction day to get to know the other interns at the beginning of the internship.
My manager was keen to know which skills I would like to learn and develop during my placement. She initiated this discussion on my first day and planned my placement around my comments.

The Culture
Most interns were social however, being located in different offices, often made socialising a little difficult. Neverthess, there were frequent smaller gatherings.
Accommodation costs are very expensive, there are however good transport links therefore opportunities to live in less expensive areas.
There was very little nightlife around the office, however local areas have plenty of bars and clubs.
There were lots of team nights out to bars and bowling. Socialising was promoted within my office.
