The Role
I enjoyed the IT internship as it allowed me to work on my own project whilst still adhering to the main programme I was placed in, within Service Delivery.
I felt extremely valued everyday, the colleagues would provide help anytime I asked and treated me equally within the team.
I was given a lot of guidance daily for the first couple of weeks by my line manager and other colleagues within the team. As my internship progressed the guidance required reduced but the supervisors and my line manger were readily available for any issues I faced.
At the beginning of the internship, I was extremely busy in terms of learning the terminology and the concepts behind the programme. As I progressed in my internship and my project , the level to which I was busy varied from being very active and interacting with other colleagues throughout the UK to some days where I spent doing minimal work.
I believe I was given a lot of responsibility being able to manage and lead a project at LBG. This is something I appreciated as it allowed me to learn how to work with a larger team that was based across the country.
Technically, there were minimal skills developed. As one of my main reasons to do the internship was to improve technically, I was a little disappointed as the role was not as hands on technically as I would have hoped for. However, there were a plethora of skills I learned about how to operate in a large organization and how to communicate with IT professionals. Also, leading a project gave me the chance to develop my project management and leadership ability which I thought was pivotal as it can translate to every aspect of my life.
The Company
Relaxed but focused.
It was relatively well organised.
There were induction courses I could do and my line manager and colleagues ensured they explained to me the gist of the programme well so it was fully understood.

The Culture
Unfortunately at my office location, there was only one other intern and there was not much interaction with other office locations where more interns worked.
Cost of living was fine, I lived at home.
Okay.
Yes, there was a group charity challenge which I thoroughly enjoyed where we raised money for Alzheimer's society.
