The Role
I was given many tasks to do and was able to get a flavour of many different areas of KPMG and it was enjoyable to be able to get such variety.
I felt very valued and was given much responsibility by my colleagues. They were happy for my to do unsupervised work as long as I felt confident but were also on hand to answer any queries I had.
I was given as much support as I needed and my supervisors made sure I knew exactly what I was working towards on each task.
My workload varied from week to week but I was hardly ever required to work later than 5:30.
I was given much responsibility with the work that I completed having been used on audit decisions.
It gave me the chance to become more efficient as using Microsoft Excel but had no direct impact on my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxed but focused and everyone was approachable if I had any questions.
The organisation of the programme fell apart apart a few weeks for me where I was not assigned to any jobs and was left to look for work myself for at least half of my time there which was disappointing. Others did not have the same problems I did though, it has to be said.
There were many resources available to me that I was made aware of and able to use at my leisure.

Because of the friendliness of employees and clear progression ladder, they are a very attractive employer.
The Culture
Nothing was formally arranged for the interns which was somewhat disappointing.
Based in Canada Square so local shopping and accommodation was expensive.
-
As an intern it was difficult to get involved in KPMG's activities but we were informed of the chances to help the local community as an employee.
