The Role
Great time and great insight into FMCG
Felt very valued by most of the associates within Mars, even senior managers and directors!
Had a line manager that was there with me every step of the way. also had buddy that helped me throughout with anything i needed!
Very busy straight from the start! It was great, a lot of work at time, but fun work!
A lot! my project involved creating a whole new pack within the Whiskas brand - and i was responsible from talking to the agencies that make the packs, to the retailers to see if they are interested, to the consumers to see if they would buy it!
Although i am studying history, the most valuable skill i learnt within this is how to work with a variety of people simultaneously and how to plan effectively for two months time!
The Company
very friendly people and a lot of fun!!! best internship environment i have had so far!
very organised - from before i started i had met my line manager and she went through what my role would entail. that was very helpful!
i feel like i developed a lot, especially in areas like planning and working through others. the personal development plan we had to have also helped!
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
very appealing, especially the mars management development programme!
The Culture
the social scene was really good, but we mostly organised it between us as interns. maybe a bit more organisation from the company would have been nice!
quite high cost due to petrol and because i had to stay in halls of residence for 3 weeks (£100 per week), but because in the end i stayed with friends, and because we got paid £300 in the end it wasnt too bad. maybe a bit more help regarding houses would have been nice
quite good nightlife, could have enjoyed a bit more of clubbing but in the summer it is a bit dead during the week. we had nights with everyone though which was good!
we had some BBQs and parties at the office and we also volunteered with my team to go and paint a Dog Home in Leicestershire which i really enjoyed!!
