The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Goldman Sachs. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people and learn about the industry.
From day one I felt a welcome member in my team and have never felt hesitation for anyone at the firm to help. The culture at Goldman Sachs is very inclusive and the transition into the team was smooth.
We were mentored by both junior and senior employees and were further provided formal guidance from members of the firm that were not in our team. This helped to gain different perspectives and allowed us gain advice from independent sources.
The 10 weeks passed very quickly and it certainly felt that we were very busy. At the same time I felt that the firm actively promotes a good work - life balance and is supportive of our personal development.
I was (positively) surprised by high level of responsibility that was given to myself and other interns. While at times this represented a challenge it was definitely the right way to learn and grow.
I think the internship helped me to develop generally my soft- as well as technical skills. The constant interaction with senior members of the team helped to learn techniques. Also there were many opportunities to practise presentations which contributed to the development of my public speaking skills.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was positive and open - everyone was approachable and happy to help when there were questions.
The internship was well organised and included social events, networking opportunities and volunteering events.
Goldman Sachs invests a significant amount of resources in the development of their employees. We had technical training at the beginning and weekly sessions during the internship.
