The Role
My experience at AMEC Foster Wheeler was very enjoyable, with new challenges everyday and a diverse workload.
I was integrated into the team very quickly and was treated very well like any other employee.
The support on offer was very comprehensive. The managers were always willing to help and were very approachable. The help given allowed me to gain valuable experience and make the most out of my placement.
The workload would vary depending on the time of year, however I always had something to do. Support was always on offer when the workload would increase significantly.
As I gained more experience and competency with the job, the level of responsibility given also increased. I felt I had been given enough for the level of expertise I had gained.
The skills I developed have helped me to approach tasks at university in a more organised manner. My confidence has increased which has allowed me to deliver presentations more effectively. The opportunities presented to me from my placement has allowed me to secure a good graduate job well before I am due to graduate.
The Company
The atmosphere was friendly but focused. The layout of the office was structured in a way that everyone was approachable.
It was well organised and included working for multiple departments.
The firm provided me with comprehensive training from day one, which continued all the way through. A lot of time was spent on personal development which allowed me to pass my placement module with ease.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing as they offer excellent benefits and personal development opportunities.
The Culture
The social scene was good and they have a dedicated graduate community with events on a regular basis.
The cost of living and socializing is expensive, mainly the rent.
The nightlife is pretty good, new restaurants have opened up recently with very good food, new bars are opening fairly regularly however most good places to eat are extremely busy.
There were many activities outside of work such as the corporate decathlon, many sports teams, quiz nights and charity events.
