The Role
I really enjoyed working and interacting with the other interns. I believe I could of gotten what I needed out of the internship in a month in a half.
I felt valued by my supervisor. However, as a team I did not feel valued. The 3 other interns and I were given a group project that we would ultimately present at the final team meeting. Our project presentation got pushed to the very end with only about 5 to 10 minutes to present. I was really interested in doing the presentation fully because I know I need to practise my presentation skills. It seemed as though what we were doing for almost 2 months was not of importance and I was not able to practise my presentation skills.
My direct supervisor was very supportive and helpful. As a team, I believe the management was not as great. For example, much of the interaction and allocation of tasks were through email. It would of been very easy for a member of the team to walk over and talk to the interns who sat at a different section of the office. Instead our tasks were allocated to us by email without asking about other workload.
I think having more individual projects would of been helpful for me to work on time management and allocate my time. Most of my workload were groups projects with other interns.
I wish I would of had more responsibility and was able to make more of a difference.
I was able to improve my excel skills. The internship was very helpful in me recognising what career path to take. I thought I would like working for a charity, now I know I do not want to work for such a large charity.
The Company
I worked at the Angel Building and the Oxford office. Both of the offices had very different atmospheres. The Oxford office was a lot smaller and had a nice atmosphere. The angel office is very busy but enjoyable.
I wish my individual tasks would of been set up better.
I think I could of had more personal training. I felt like it seemed like there was a lot of could try to do. But when it came down to it everyone is really busy and it is difficult to find the right person and time. My recommendation is to be really proactive.
Flexi Time
Travel loan
It seems like there is always a job opportunity within the organisation.
The Culture
I really enjoyed the other interns in my team. There were 5 of us all together and we all got along really well.
Living in Angel specifically would be quite expensive. There were some good deals for food.
There are a lot of pubs around the area and great places to go for lunch and dinner. Also, great location in central London so easy access to get
I did not try to get involved in other activities. But there were emails that were circulated to get involved in other volunteering opportunities.
