The Role
The placement was an enjoyable and insightful experience.
Colleagues treat you like any other member of staff. They won't have you making tea.
The support and guidance offered was fantastic. Managers are there to help you with any issues and offer regular feedback.
Varies from day to day. Some days are pretty busy and others pretty quiet.
Again, this varies from day to day. When other members of staff are on holiday, you may see that you are given more responsibility for short periods of time.
I feel the experience has provided me with useful knowledge and skills that will be applicable to my degree.
The Company
The office was fairly small and generally pretty quiet. However, all staff share a good relationship which made it a pleasant working environment.
The internship was set up reasonably well. I was able to choose the dates of my contract and was even able to have this extended. Most weeks I was aware of what projects I would be working on.
As this was a summer internship, I was not able to work towards professional accreditation. However, regular CPD talks were organised for the office which I was able to attend if I wished.
Subject to performance, the company offers further placements or graduate positions.
The Culture
As the office was small, they did not take on many students. However, the office had social events such as local comedy nights, meals out and drinks after work.
I was placed in London, so living costs are high. Expect to have high travel costs.
Seemed to be okay.
The office did not have any activities outside of work such as sports teams etc.
