The Role
I had an excellent experience at EC Harris. The different types of projects that EC Harris were involved in, and the facilities at ECHQ made the placement very enjoyable.
I felt very valued by my team leaders and other senior members of the team. On one occasion the team were taken for dinner as a thank you for the hard work we had done on one particular project.
The management were extremely supportive during my time at EC Harris and they gave me guidance with all of the different projects I was working on. This was very helpful as this was the first time I had worked in a professional capacity within the built environment.
My diary was full everyday as I was involved in a number of different projects.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility for an intern. This involved going to various meetings with contractors and clients. I also organised my own diary order to meet deadlines.
There were a number of things that I covered during my placement that I was studying in my final year of university. This will be a massive help going into my final year and will have a positive effect on my grades.
The Company
The atmosphere at EC Harris was a very positive and upbeat one.
The organisation was excellent. Whenever I had finished working on one project there was always an opening on another project that I could help with.
I was always invited to seminars that were held to help the graduates study for their APC.
Future employment prospects are very appealing and I have been offered a graduate placement starting in September 2015.
The Culture
The social scene was excellent. Myself and other graduates would always go for lunch and go to social events together,
As the placement was in central London the cost of socialising was quite high, although ECHQ had a free bar two nights a week, which gave me the opportunity to socialise and network with other employees.
As the placement was in Central London the nightlife was very good.
There was always events and activities that people could get involved in. I personally attended a charity quiz evening which was a lot of fun and was another great way of meeting fellow EC Harris employees.
