About You
I found the insight day very informative and enjoyable. The partners, trainees and other staff were all incredibly friendly and approachable, and I feel that I learnt a lot about the firm.
I felt that Mayer Brown valued my interest in the firm and wanted to give me a good impression as a potential trainee.
I received useful guidance on the firm's practice areas, its culture and work/life balance, and was given information on what Mayer Brown looks for in applications for vacation schemes and training contracts.
The information will assist me in making decisions as to whether to apply to Mayer Brown and what to include in an application.
The Company
The day was well structured with an introduction and partner presentations in Finance and Construction to start, before a trainee networking session followed by lunch. The day ended on a Commercial Awareness Workshop which was particularly valuable for making an application to Mayer Brown.
The general atmosphere was welcoming, friendly and supportive. I felt that I could openly ask Mayer Brown staff about the firm and the application process, and that my questions were valued.
Mayer Brown offered a Commercial Awareness Workshop which was very useful.
Although I did not actually experience the type of work that the firm does first hand, I did listen to presentations by partners about what their work entails and who the clients are.
I could get a feel as to what types of people were working at the firm and whether I shared the same values.
It was very valuable, and will definitely influence my future applications to the firm and choice of training contract.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses, although these have not yet been paid into my account.
Yes, I was able to network with both trainees, recruitment staff and partners over lunch.
I enjoyed the networking opportunities, although I would have liked to have time to speak to more people.
Yes, I heard about pro-bono activities which the firm's staff take part in.
Definitely - it was a very helpful day and I feel that I learnt a lot about Mayer Brown.
